When I’m listening to a song, I think it’s infinitely lame when somebody declares, “This song is old.” Every song is old because it was recorded in the past. Call me a purist, but the only time music is “not old” is if it’s being written or recorded right now, at this very moment.
However, this doesn’t excuse you from also trying to seek out new music once in a while. You should.
A “new” song is any song you’ve never heard before. Because whether it’s new or old, if you’ve never heard it ever, that makes it new to you.
So, new songs can be new.
Old songs can be new too.
It’s also fair to say, though, if you hear a song that you think might be new to you, but only because you’ve happened to forgotten that you have heard it before, then you are likely old. Sorry.
And no offense intended to anyone from any generation. Whatsoever. Living or dead.
Maybe I’m right.
Maybe I’m wrong.
Maybe I’m amazed.
Maybe I’m out of line!
Maybe I’m amazed that I’m a musical a******.
